The past doesn't have to be traumatic to have negative impact on your life today.
Another colleague posted this today, and I feel that I want to share it with you, but do not feel I need to rewrite another's words.
Hi. A small but quite important turning point happened in a session today. Client had scenes from childhood. Not dramatic or traumatic it seemed. When we reviewed them, client said as much, "they all seemed trivial so I don't see the relevance to my issue today" . A quick reframe; I said, "They seem trivial to you today as you view then with an adult mind, how did they feel to your 6 year old mind when they happened. Clearly they were significant enough to come back to you today." Clients reaction on that new perspective made all the difference.
